New solar panel scheme could provoke interest in electrical courses

A new initiative that aims to give away 100,000 solar power systems could provide plenty of work for engineers who have completed electrical courses.

Daniel Green, chief executive of government-backed organisation HomeSun, explained that the institution will be able to give out these photovoltaic systems - which typically cost up to £15,000 - by taking control of the feed-in tariff.

If enough people believe in the potential of this scheme, which sees customers pay back their investment over the space of 25 years, there are likely to be plenty of contracts on offer for workers who have passed electrical courses.

"It will mean that tens of thousands of people will be able to produce their own free, clean electricity which is really quite momentous," explained Mr Green.

These comments follow the launch of the HomeSun £1 billion solar panel giveaway, which aims to install about 2,000 systems over the next 12 months.
